| Model Killed in Battle With Carjacker
Investigators are looking for a suspect in the death of a model who was killed while trying to prevent her Porsche Cayenne from being carjacked, city prosecutors said Wednesday. Anna Loginova, a 29-year-old model and businesswoman, died instantly Sunday when she smashed her head against the pavement while holding on to the door handle as the carjacker drove off in her Porsche, said Oleg Pavlov, the lead investigator with the southeast district branch of the City Prosecutor's Office. "We haven't managed to find the suspect yet," Pavlov said. Loginova arrived at a friend's apartment building on Novomarinskaya Ulitsa, near the Bratislavskaya metro station, at around 8:30 p.m. Sunday to adopt a kitten, Pavlov said. According to witnesses, Loginova had just opened the door of her car when a man got out of a nearby car, sprinted toward the model and threw her out of the Porsche, Pavlov said.
Bloom's Hit-and-Run Case Wilts
Orlando Bloom won't be parked in court for his motoring mishap. The Los Angeles District Attorney's Office announced Friday that the Pirates of the Caribbean and Lord of the Rings star would not face any charges stemming from a smashup earlier this month that left one of his passengers with a fractured neck. D.A. spokeswoman Jane Robison tells E! News that, due to "insufficient evidence," Bloom will avoid a misdemeanor hit-and-run charge for the Oct. 12 incident. According to the D.A.'s charge evaluation worksheet, Bloom was being shadowed by four paparazzo-filled cars and one car full of fans in the early morning hours. The report indicates that two of the camera-wielding pursuers attempted to cut off the black 2003 Toyota Matrix being driven by Bloom, causing him to swerve into a Porsche Cayenne parked on the side of the street.

Porsche unveils SUV after exiting Detroit
Porsche unveils SUV after exiting Detroit Cayenne GTS, Windy City event both touted as performing best-in-class. Eric Morath / The Detroit News CHICAGO -- Porsche AG showed its 2008 Cayenne GTS SUV for the first time in North America at the Chicago Auto Show on Thursday, just a couple weeks after the German automaker was a no-show in Detroit. In unveiling the latest Cayenne model, Porsche described the GTS as the best-performing on-road SUV in the market. While the new version gives up some of the standard Cayenne's off-road capabilities, a 405-horsepower V-8 engine and lower-riding sport suspension make the SUV nearly track worthy, officials said. But the unveiling seemed to be as much about Chicago as the Cayenne. Company officials talked about how Chicago is a strong market for the automaker.
Auto buyers not in mood for luxury Analysts foresee market decline in ...
CHICAGO Automakers are introducing plenty of luxury vehicles at this year's Chicago Auto Show, from the $78,000 Yes! roadster to Porsche's performance-oriented Cayenne GTS. But the models may be met by empty wallets. Analysts and some automakers predict luxury sales will fall this year as the nation's economic woes put a pinch on high-end buyers. "Typically in a declining market, you usually don't see luxury vehicles drop off. The drop-off in luxury sales is at a rate much slower than the overall market, and that is because of the wealth factor," said Joe Barker, senior manager of North American vehicle sales forecasting for CSM Worldwide. "But in recent months it appears even the affluent car buyers are even pulling back a bit on auto purchases." Peter Schwarzenbauer, president and chief executive of Porsche Cars North America, said Thursday that Porsche has seen a downturn in U.S.
