| Buttars says issue is closed
Board of Education, "wrong to begin with" in a radio interview. "He continues to make these derogatory statements, then he says 'I'm sorry' and moves on," Williams said. "Then the next incident happens." Valentine said Thursday it was up to Buttars to decide whether to resign. "His resignation is his decision," he said. "Sen. Buttars is in a very difficult situation." Valentine declined to give his own opinion about what action Buttars should take. "I'm going to let Sen. Buttars have his space," Valentine said. "If I express my personal opinions, then it would have an effect on Sen. Buttars' decision. I think Sen. Buttars needs to come to grips with that decision." Valentine said no further action can be taken against Buttars under Senate rules. Senators can be censured only if they refuse to apologize for a breach of decorum, he said, noting a censure carries no penalties.

Fans are working themselves into a frenzy, dancing awkwardly for the chance to win free T-shirts and chanting their favorite driver's name over and over. Metro-based bigwigs’ involvement in Cebu car smuggling exposed
Bayan Muna party-list Rep. Teddy Casio yesterday said the big-time car smuggling mafia in Cebu involves top-level officials in Metro Manila. In yesterdays hearing of the House committee on good government, Casio presented documents obtained by Bayan Munas Central Visayas chapter from sources in the Land Transportation Office central office showing 40 plate numbers of late model luxury cars and sports utility vehicles, including 2 Lexus 2007 models, 5 BMWs, 3 Range Rovers, 6 Mercedes Benzes, 2 GMC Explorers, 5 Toyota Land Cruisers 2007 models, 2 Toyota 2007 Prados, a Porsche Cayenne and a Ford Mustang, that were registered from August 2006 to July 2007 had plate numbers issued by the LTO office in Diliman. Mazatlan mixes history with glitz
Just after dawn joggers hit the malecon, a 17-mile stretch of ocean-side boardwalk connecting historic Mazatlan with its encroaching hip side. As the day heats up, families with beach towels and young men lugging surfboards replace the morning exercise shift. By evening, as the sun dips into the Pacific, painting the darkening sky coral, couples stroll hand-in-hand along the walkway that serves as the pulse of this Mexican city. What do you want from your trip to Mexico? Banana boat rides leaving from a golden beach and dance floors bathed in pulsating lights or tours of a historic Italian-style opera house and a stroll through an open-air market with fresh meat hanging from hooks and hand-tooled huaraches stacked nearby? Quick detours from either side of this boardwalk give you both in this schizophrenic port.
Foolish Forecast: Ceradyne's Slip Is Showing
Ceradyne made plenty of news this past quarter. Most recently, we saw Oshkosh (NYSE: OSK) place an order for Ceradyne's new "B-Kit prototype armor kit" -- presumably to be used on the companies' joint offering to build next-generation BULL MRAPs (mine-resistant, ambush-protected vehicles) for the Pentagon's consideration as an alternative to offerings from General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), Force Protection (Nasdaq: FRPT), BAE, and Navistar. Last month, Ceradyne announced a trio of contracts, including a high-profile deal to supply ceramic armor inserts to the federal UNICOR prison industries concern. Another was a more workaday contract to manufacture pump seals for an industrial customer. And the third was a massive $400 million order to provide yet more ceramic armor to the U.S.
