| Ohio River Bridges Project bashed
An ad-hoc Metro Council committee is holding hearings on an alternative to the Ohio River Bridges Project, a $4.1 billion plan to build two new spans over the Ohio River and reconfigure the Spaghetti Junction interchanges downtown. The bridges would go downtown and in eastern Jefferson County. The alternative plan, known as 8664 -- "86" is slang for "get rid of" and "64" refers to I-64 -- is being pushed by a group of local residents and would eliminate the highway through downtown and replace it with a surface-level parkway. It also envisions just one new bridge, in eastern Jefferson County. The 8664 plan would cost roughly half of the bridges project. While the Ohio River Bridges Project has federal approval, the state does not know how it will pay its $2.9 billion share.
Hungarian GP - Sunday - Team Quotes
Fernando Alonso (4th): "I am quite pleased with the race today which was a difficult one. The maximum we could have reached from sixth position on the grid was a podium finish - especially on this circuit which is comparable to Monaco in terms of overtaking opportunities. This didn't work out in the end, but fourth is better than fifth and at the final stage of the race I did not push too much to save my engine for the Turkish Grand Prix. Without the penalty after yesterday's qualifying the victory would have been possible today as you can see on my lap times when I had a clear track. I am now seven points behind Lewis. The fight for the championship is still open and I will try my best to close the gap." Ron Dennis, Team Principal: "A weekend full of stress and emotion. The issues that faced us, not just this weekend but also in the previous month, has tested the resolve of the whole team.

Yehia Mohamed
It appealed to me at the time because we would often go on rescue missions to save drowning people. It was very hard, but I like to help people when I can," he says. Fascinated by the starry glitz of cinema, Yehia “Yaya" Mohamed who is now famous as one of Hollywood's most endearing celebrity hounds secured a role for himself on an Adel Imam film set. “I just went to Studio Al-Ahram and convinced them. It was such a long time ago, I don't remember the name of the film, but I was the one sitting in the carpenter's workshop in jail," he recalls. It was around that time that he started taking a keen interest in photography. Unable to afford a camera, he used to rent one from a photo store for a pound a day. Quickly mastering its use, he practiced on friends and his teammates from the Alexandria wrestling club.
Townsend Reflects on Council Term
Too often does our generation sit on the sidelines while the politicians make decisions. Most of our political disillusionment is that we have the most to lose — we fight wars in Iraq, make up a third of the working poor [and] comprise the majority of those living without healthcare — all this while college tuition is skyrocketing through the roof. Why shouldn't young people be at the decision-making table, having an effect on the future? I hope that I have been able to share and show and lead by example to other students who come to Cornell: if you're upset about parking in Collegetown, or rent, or the way the streets are, don't just be upset and moan about it. Run for office and get involved and have a say. The Sun: What will you miss most about your experience as part of the Common Council? Townsend: When you're, say, a doctor, you can help one person at a time.
Football recruiting
And the Bulldogs may not be done. With North Carolina tight end Dwayne Allen's last-minute flip-flop to Clemson, the Bulldogs still have a scholarship to give. "When all the dust settles, there might be someone out there we have been interested in, I don't know," Richt said. — Paul Johnson's Georgia Tech class was ranked 38th nationally by Scout.com and 49th by Rivals.com. "I don't get into all these rating services, and I don't care who else is recruiting them," Johnson said. — Who's No. 1? That's Alabama, experts say. Three "five-star" recruits and 19 "four-star" players (according to Scout.com's rankings) gave Nick Saban & Co. the edge. The Tide's headliners included wide receiver Julio Jones and linebacker Jerrell Harris.
Short skirts and fast cars will have to wait, says Jankovic
MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) -A sore and sorry Jelena Jankovic will have to forgo glamour for the time being. "When you have pain in your back, the worst thing is to have heels on and put on a short dress," the third-ranked Jankovic said when asked if she'd take another ride in an Italian sports car before she leaves Melbourne. "Because I can't bend down, I can't do anything." Jankovic twice sought medical treatment in the second set of her 6-3, 6-1 semifinal loss to Maria Sharapova, laying outstretched on a towel while a physiotherapist massaged her lower back. "I felt really some strange pain in my back where I felt like I was so stuck," she said. "I wanted to withdraw, but it was a semifinal." The Serb also regrets her promise to join American Bethanie Mattek in the doubles competition, where they lost in the third round.

It is believed the wood is one of the top 40 sites in the country for veteran trees with over 45 veteran oaks and over 50 species of conservation concern. Hong Kong's boxing bankers let the punches fly
More than 500 people attended the event, cheering and jeering the men who staggered back to their seats after each bout to take instructions from their coaches. "I had a bit of wobble, a bit of haze in the eyes," said 37-year-old Toby Bland of EIP Hedge Fund after winning a fight against a fellow banker. "The big hits you don't even feel because the adrenalin's so high, so you just sort of hope the legs don't go, and carry on." One fighter had to surrender in the second round after his contact lens fell on the floor. He could not get it back into his eyes due to his sweating, trembling hands. Some bankers sworn off boxing for life, but most of the participants said they felt elated after the fight. "It's a lot of small injuries that just nag at you," said Greg "Bulldog" Jacobson, 44, of Countrywide Financial Corp.
