Little Fiat sexiest car ever

Top Gear magazine has voted the humble Fiat 500, which looks like a cross between a Mini and a VW Beetle, No 1 for setting pulses racing.

It tops a list of 100 sexiest cars because the mag claims anyone behind the wheel looks sexually charged ? even a nun.

Contributing editor James May defended the bizarre choice yesterday, saying: The Fiat 500 advertises nothing about its owner, except that it’s someone who doesn’t need to try.

Top Gear’s top ten sexiest cars:

1. Fiat 500; 2. Aston Martin DBS; 3. Maserati Quattroporte; 4. Chevrolet Camaro; 5. Citroen C6; 6. Lincoln Continental; 7. Bentley Continental S1 Fastback; 8. BMW M1; 9. Rolls-Royce Phantom; 10. Sally the Porsche 911 Carrera (from the animated film Cars).

Big wheels keep up to the marque by buying flash

AS ECONOMIC barometers go, there could hardly be any more dashing — a $580,000 status symbol on wheels — and at least 80 Australians have already placed their order for Ferrari's slick new model, the F430 Scuderia.

The latest street incarnation of the world's most famous motor racing emblem is an eight-cylinder, 503-horsepower, high-performance vehicle its Italian makers would seem wholly justified in touting as a "unique supercar perfect for passionate and sporty customers".

Then there's the Porsche 911 turbo, retailing at $370,000. More than 100 Australians put themselves behind the wheel of one last year, and others are queuing to take delivery of the next generation GT2 priced at $425,000. Property developer Zac Brankovic, 38, who has been driving Porsches for about five years, shelled out $260,000 for his Porsche Carrera S convertible.

Neighbors feel misled on DPC group home plans

Dot Hughes, who lives on Dartmouth Woods Road, said the man she believes is the owner of a neighboring house being remodeled to accommodate five patients from Delaware Psychiatric Center told her a relative was moving in. She found out from the state months later that that was not the case. (Buy photo) The News Journal/ROBERT CRAIG .

NASCAR Boss Brian France's State of the Sport Address

BRIAN FRANCE: Good afternoon, everyone. On behalf of everyone at NASCAR, thank you for being here. This has become a pre-season tradition of sorts and of course a very important one. We're starting off this year, as that video illustrated, in strong fashion. NASCAR is celebrating 60 proud years in 2008. Think about that, 60 years. We've covered a lot of ground in six decades. The first NASCAR-sanctioned race was run on the beach road course in Daytona in 1948. That was just a few weeks following the famed Streamline Hotel meeting in which NASCAR was formed. Red Byron won in a Ford modified. In a 1949, the first strictly stock race, what is now known as the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, was held at the Charlotte fairgrounds. Jim Roper won that race and Red Byron was the season champion. In 1949, there were a total of only eight races.

Rooting interests

Teams have lost to the Patriots over the past half decade in record fashion and often times they have not been able to rationalize it to themselves because of a general lack of standout talent on the Patriots' squad. When they found this to cling to, they pretended to be outraged; in reality they were ecstactic that they had found a way to justify their losses. Cheating or not (and we will probably never know), the country desperately wants us to denounce the Patriots, Belichick in particular. When we stood by him and the team, I think that is when we became hateful to the rest of the country - because they could then equate us with the lack of class and integrity that they gladly embraced in their perceptions of the Patriots. Personally, I'll gladly stand by the Patriots until I meet my death.

Wall decals sticking sleekly in modern, trendy rooms

If you're the kind of homeowner who likes to redecorate frequently, you know that painting or wallpapering an entire room can be daunting. It's time to welcome an easier solution: wall decals.

If those words make you think of cartoon characters, tacky outdoor scenes or a life-size quarterback, you haven't seen the latest generation of adhesive wall art.

The peel-and-stick vinyl appliques are showing up in the pages of Elle and Dwell and on the walls of hotels, offices and stores like Sony, the Gap and Design Within Reach.

Simple to apply, decals usually come in multipacks, with prices from about $12 to $165 or more, depending on size and customization. Several companies will even interpret your own idea on reusable vinyl.

For a sophisticated aesthetic, stickable wall art can range from bold, wall-covering graphics to delicate art worthy of a frame (stick-on, of course).

Racing: Germain Camrys test at Las Vegas

Two Germain Racing Toyota Camry machines were on the track at the Las Vegas Speedway on Wednesday. Nationwide Series drivers Todd Bodine (03) and Mike Wallace (7) both improved upon their morning test speeds in the afternoon session.

In the early session, Bodine was 30th fastest (177.160) and Wallace was 34th (177.003). In the afternoon test, however, Bodine moved up to 20th best (178.986) and Wallace climbed to 23rd quickest at 17.619.

Wallace is new with the Germain operation this season and plans to run a fulltime Nationwide Series (formerly Busch Series) schedule. Bodine has said his focus will remain primarily on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and trying to win a second championship to add to the one he earned in 2006.
